Banyalbufar

Originated in Arabic, the name of the city means ‘small vineyard by the sea.’ Banyalbufar exudes seaside serenity.

This is one of the most picturesque villages on the northwest coast, surrounded by steep farming terraces dubbed Marjades.

The area was once known for the cultivation of the highly esteemed Malvasier or Malvasia grape variety for wine production, which is now being successfully re-established by modern vintners in Banyalbufar. It is stated that the King of Aragon coveted this wine and that it was a driving force behind Jaume I’s re-conquest of Mallorca.

Banyalbufar is surrounded by the stunning Tramuntana mountains, which are protected by UNESCO, as well as sea vistas and beaches, making it ideal for nature lovers, wine enthusiasts, and those looking to get away from it all.
